The Manorbier and Tenby Area
Pembrokeshire is a wonderful county for anyone interested in the great outdoors, offering a fabulous range of pursuits for nature-lovers, walkers, climbers, sailors, surfers, horse-riders or cyclists. It is also an ideal location for families, with its many beautiful sandy beaches as well as castles and all-weather attractions.
The Pembrokeshire coastline has several stunning islands worth a visit, including the monastery and lighthouse on Caldey Island, off Tenby, famous for its chocolates, perfume and monks! Skomer island with its amazing bluebells and landscape is renowned for its puffins - a sight to savour. Boat trips around Ramsey and Skomer islands will always delight and offer an opportunity to watch the seals basking in the sunshine on the rocks.
Closer to home in Manorbier itself, the large sandy beach is gently sloping and therefore ideal for smaller children. It has many fascinating rockpools to explore with a babbling brook flowing down to the sea giving hours of entertainment for everyone. Given the right wind direction this is also a popular beach for surfing and of course the Pembrokeshire coastal path runs along the headland above the beach. Manorbier castle is a splendid example of a Norman castle and is only a few minutes walk away - well-worth exploring.
The village also has a well-stocked shop and Post Office which is open all hours. There is a pub and a hotel, both of which serve food if you do not wish to travel the five miles into Tenby.
There are plenty of all-weather attractions in the area and we have provided links to many of the popular sites for your information.
